In general, this placement opportunity will suit years three & four students who are looking to commit seriously to client hours and professional development. Lacap wants a robust, talkative & challenging culture. At the end of the student placement, there is an opportunity to be offered associate membership of lacap.
Lacap’s low-fee client work is part-funded by direct fee contributions from
its low-fee client group that are assessed according to individual means &
range from £8 to £23. Additional funding is sourced by a % contribution from fees generated by higher fee clients received at lacap.
Lacap is looking to sustain long term, once-weekly, psychotherapy treatments of 150-160 client hours per week in the 2010/11 academic year.
Lacap offers twice weekly therapy in particular circumstances.
The student associate’s contract will be for a minimum of one and a maximum of two academic years .
The year is divided into three terms, and totals 44 weeks.
Each student will receive a minimum caseload of four clients and a maximum of eight.
We encourage the full-take up of eight, as we believe candidates benefit
from exposure to casework volumes: it trains the 'analytic ear' and reduces
the tendency to over-analyse material while preparing the candidate for
actual work conditions. The clients will have been assessed and screened. The initial caseload of three at the start date will be added to at the rate of one per
three weeks to achieve up to eight clients by the end of term one, and ‘topped up’ in terms two on for terminations.
Caseload work days are either a Saturday or a Sunday, between the hours of 8.00am & 6.00pm, or between 8.00am to 4.00pm weekdays.
Any supervision
offered by LACAP cannot replace individual supervisions by the student associate’s own training organization, which must be at the rate consistent with that training organizations requirement. Student associate’s are required to take external supervision.
