Anger Management Group TherapyThis group is focussed on persons who are experiencing anger, frustration & feelings of loss of control. This group will be a permanent space that will be shared with 8 to 10 individuals that are facing similar difficulties. It will be a safe and confidential space to find one self through supporting & understanding each other. This specific group will be ongoing and open; that means that each individual will be part of the group for as long as he/she needs it, the journey will be at each ones pace. "Open group" means that once one of the members of the group terminates his/her journey, a new person will be joining the group to start his/her own journey.
The goal of anger management is not to eliminate the anger, but to use it as a signal that there is a problem or issue that needs to be addressed. There is a strong emphasis in the group on understanding the relationship between thoughts and anger. When it comes to anger we usually apply very illogical or unreasonable thinking, and often very unhelpful thoughts about the situations in which we find ourselves.
The group is taken by Karen Gerber, and sessions are on Tuesday evenings between 6.00 to 7.30pm. Karen is a clinical psychologist and a Member of the BPS & BABCP. Karen will hold an initial assessment meeting with you, where you can discuss through your concerns and problems, and whether this group is right for you. Commitment is one of the main therapeutic strengths of a group, that means that attendance and punctuality are basic. .
