You can reserve two different items:
- You can make a concrete reservation of room time.
- You can make a 'notional' reservation of your work time.
Reserving Room Time Reserving room time can be done for two reasons. The first is that you want to block other therapists from one-off bookings in a room that is usual for your work-shift. The second is that you want to hold open patient space. It is not the appropriate choice for organising a defensive front-end posture. To exclude your availability for assessments the correct solution is to reserve your personal time. See below. A Patient exists who is called by your name, and is assigned to you. This is then a 'dummy patient' who you can use, in the usual way, to make an appointment with. You should make an appointment with that 'dummy name' in the usual way, setting it up as a recurrent appointment in the usual way. This will instruct the computer that you are using that room at that time, and the computer will ensure that no other therapist can book in, nor any new patients from the front end. RESERVING ROOM TIME RESULTS IN A CHARGEABLE TRANSACTION FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE BLOCKING OUT OTHER THERAPISTS FROM USING THAT ROOM. | | Reserving Your Work Time This is you instructing the computer that you are unavailable for work on particular days times, on either a 'one-off' or a more permanent basis. Giving the computer this instruction will therefore prevent the computer or the administrator from placing new patient assessments or referring over patients into that time slot. What this will do is 'grey out' your availability on the patient's view - the front end - so disabling them from booking in with you. What this does NOT do is reserve that particular ROOM TIME, so another therapist can arrange assessments & 'one-offs' in that time. You are expected to vacate that room if asked! |

| You Can use the 'Q' and the 'R' buttons on the appointment manager. The 'Q' button will just block out one 15 minute unit for that one time. The 'Q' stands for 'quick reserve. The 'R' button will present you with another screen, which you will need to fill out in order to set up a regular reserved time. When you have set up the "R" button screen the details of that instruction are stored as a 'Recurring Reserve' listing, which can be accessed from the appointment manager opening grid. You can 'Edit' or 'Delete' that transaction |
