Commentary: data taken from THIS LINK If you were earning these sort of Gross incomes under PAYE this would be equivalent to £75,000 per year!
i.e £1442 per week divided by a 35 hour week is £41.20......

Now, lets look at takehome pay after Lacap charges: If you earn these average incomes, and if your patient's are out of referral fee periods, then your average per hour with lacap less room charges of £8.50 is £33.84. So, under PAYE you would be earning the equivalent of £60,000 per year!
So, you have £1154 per week divided by 35 hours work is £32.94 per hour.....

Now, lets look at the WORST CASE scenario. All your patients are in the Referral Fee period & you are paying the room charges: so you have an average fee of £42.34 - £9.24 referral fees less £8.50 room charges - and you are netting (taking home) £24.10 per hour.
If you work this through under PAYE, and assuming that you declare without expenses or incidentals as pure income to the taxman, You are earning the PAYE equivalent of £44,000 per Year. So, that's right! the lowest average takehome pay at lacap is equivalent to £44,000 per year....

Now, put this into context with similar rates in the NHS: Non managerial therapists start at £20,000 and peak at £30,000.
Senior therapists are at £30,000 to £40,000 and managerial level therapists start at £40,000 and rise to £65,000 top.

Now, if you are working at the very bottom session, £30.00 per session (£40.00 per hour if you are working 45 minutes!), then you are still netting in referral fee periods at £14.60. So with PAYE in mind you are getting the equivalent of £28,000. That's right! The bottom, bottom 'salary' at lacap is £28,000 - which is more than NHS comparable.

If you are working 45 minute units at this 'bottom, bottom' the equivalent PAYE is £22.30 per hour = PAYE gross of £41,000

  1. All the premises taken care of for you - you just turn up when you are working.

  2. All referrals in taken care of - you don't advertise nor pay to advertise.

  3. Unlike private practice - you are not paying for a clinical room 24/7  - just the time you use.

  4. No case reports or other bulky paperwork demanded! No management meetings and other time-wasting practices. No boss.

  5. You are not forced to work cases that you do not want to, or hours that don't suit you.

  6. Reception services & diary services from January.

  7. Credit card facilities and accounts services from January.

  8. Equivalent PAYE salary of £40,000 plus.

  9. All the taxation breaks of the self-employed.

So, perhaps you could all just consider things a bit - especially in these credit crunch times

The table shows the numbers of patients who were booked into New Assessments in the months indicated

The volume of enquiries is additional to that, attendances and agreed treatments are less than that.
