| IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. Room Charges for 'Private' Patients: Can you note that we intend to charge separately for room bookings for patients that you might see who have not been referred into your practice by/from LACAP with effect from 1st April 2010. This is because the room charges at LACAP are just so low compared to other consulting rooms in the Central London Area. We propose room fees of £15.00 per hour (or part). This will be dealt with administratively by assigning a package to the patient's (£6.50 per session) 2. Initial Consultations - Prepayment LACAP is piloting requiring patients using the online booking for assessments in the Low-Fee scheme to be required to make PayPal payment for that meeting before we confirm for it. If this is successful, we will extend this to all new patients. We propose asking for £25.00 'upfront' with the balance on the day. We hope that this will further reduce non-attendances, or at least go part way towards making non-attendances bearable! 3. Initial Consultations & LACAP's fees. LACAP has not made either room or referral fee charges for IC's. This is because historically DNA rates were so high, that it was a 50/50 chance whether the patient would turn up at all. With the introduction of Phone and text procedures for new patients, attendance at the IC is now at around 90%. The further problem we are having to address is that some therapists are holding open times that they do not intend to fill with returning caseload, and are using the 'free' IC time in order to maximise income. This is to the detriment of other therapists that play fairly. From 1st April 2010 the initial consultation will attract room fees in the same way as any other consultation booked into the appointment manager. Yoko & I would welcome your comments, idea and opinions on these three points. Best Regards, Donald Kirkpatrick |
