Notification of New
Fee Rates: Spring 2010.
From Friday March 26th 2010 LACAP has raised the
fees that it charges for services. This is due to increasing financial
pressures on the group practice, and the recognition that we had kept our
fee rates neither in line with other practices, nor at a sustainable level
for the services we provide (particularly on our low and supported fee
side).

| Posted 25/03/09 | | New Couples Therapists at LacapExtract: "The London Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy is pleased to welcome Anando Emryss and Sara Breinlinger as Associate Members......demand for this service is increasing. This is particularly in the current climate with worries about work and redundancy starting to affect the cohesion of couples and families....the increasing amounts of stress, anger and unfulfilled expectations that impact on our relationships and on our sexual lives....Lacap has benchmarked its fees for Couples Counselling against those of Relate..." |

| Posted 04/04/09 | | Psychotherapy & Counselling: Government Regulation!Extract: "....the history of this problem is that the existing regulatory bodies, in particular the BACP, have been dumbing down and atrophying the need or interest in ‘what is a personal psychotherapy?’ – taking it out of the equation, almost, for ‘what is a counsellor or psychotherapist?’ Do you want to meet with someone who has had so little interest is ‘what is psychotherapy?’ that they have barely done it themselves?.....If many psychotherapists and counsellors have undertaken a training in order to ‘self-cure’ or to ‘put their pathology to work’ (I want to help the world…. etc.), then the ‘professionalization’ of the profession of counselling and psychotherapy looks like it might permit the underlying, irrational, motives to carry on unchallenged or unexplored.....Or is there something to be said for the London psychotherapist as a little more of a renaissance man? |

| Posted 24/11.08 | | Our Counsellors & Psychotherapists - who you are seeingExtract: "Not all of our therapists take first meetings (psychotherapy & counselling assessments). So, you are only meeting with veteran & fully qualified therapists. The counsellor or psychotherapist with whom you are having that assessment, might not be the therapist that you carry on seeing. Assessment is about the psychotherapist understanding in quite some detail about what is bringing you along. The counsellor then discusses the various treatment model options....." |

| Posted 18/11.08 | | Choosing a Psychotherapist, Counsellor or Counselling Psychologist in London!Extract: "Counselling & Psychotherapy: it's not just people who give you advice. Therapy is not simple problem-solving. Psychotherapy produces change in your life, but not primarily because of advice you get from the psychotherapist.Counselling research has shown that the technique the psychotherapist or counselor uses is not as important as the relationship you build together. As counselling progresses, you will actually use the relationship between you and your psychotherapist as a workspace, to resolve problems. Because the relationship with the therapist is so essential..." |

| Posted 02/01/09 | | Psychotherapy referrals for GP's in LondonExtract: Guidelines exist for use of antidepressants and psychotherapy or counselling for mild to moderate depression, although psychotherapy needs effective policy implementation in clinical practice to maximise its impact for patients. This is where referral over to The London Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy can be effective: at the psychotherapy assessment the clinician can decide with the patient the nature of the psychological intervention.... |
